A growing spin-off from a global leader in high-pressure equipment and process engineering has an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a team that is rapidly expanding its core technologies into new energy applications. The company specializes in the design, development and commercialization of novel, green processes that improve energy efficiency and make alternative forms of energy cost effective.  

Job Summary

This position entails all facets of mechanical engineering: heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, stress analysis, mechanics, materials, and controls.  Combine basic engineering calculations with mechanical engineering software tools to produce and analyze new and existing designs.  Work with manufacturing groups to complete design, assembly, testing and installation. 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Designing, analyzing and testing heat exchangers, heat exchange systems, pressure vessels and other mechanical systems.  Produce new designs and analyze new and existing designs. 
  • Designing experiments and test rigs for new systems, equipment and components.
  • Managing outside projects and conduct project reporting.
  • Working with vendors and project partners.
  •  Conducting heat transfer, fluid dynamics thermodynamics and stress analysis and modeling.

Qualifications and Required Skills

 

  • Bachelors or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience.
  • 2D and 3D solid modeling experience such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with CFD and FEA tools, advanced manufacturing techniques and high strength materials.
  • Experience developing and generating project and component documentation including equipment, drawings, process flow diagrams, bills of materials, project schedules and component and system manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work both independently and in team environments.

Perferred Characteristics:

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with heat exchange systems, advanced manufacturing techniques and high strength materials.
  • Experience in new product development and project management.
  • Knowledge of and experience with ASHRAE codes and specifications and ASME guidelines.
  • Self-starter who enjoys working in a small company environment with a wide degree of creativity and opportunity for growth working and developing new technologies.
