Job Summary

The Corporate Engagement Consultant will refine and vet the program strategy, generate leads and foster on-boarding or corporate clients.

Responsibilities and Duties


• Vet the initial business model for the program with “friends of IW” – meaning corporate executives that have close ties to IW or the consultant to IW; work with IW management to refine program strategy
• Work with Director of Business Development and others to create a “short list” of 20 companies to pursue in the first three months, and 20 additional companies to pursue in the second three months; it is expected that some of the companies from the first three months will be closed in the second three months
• Identify specific individuals from the short-list companies to meet with and establish contact with those individuals, scheduling meetings that will be attended by a combination of the consultant, the Director of Business Development, the CEO, and maybe others
• Work with Director of Business Development to customize the pitch to each short-list company so that meetings will be catered to the interests and needs of each company
• In instances where initial meetings lead to contract negotiations or further evaluation, the consultant will work with the Director of Business Development to facilitate IW’s ongoing efforts with those specific companies
• Work with the Director of Business Development to further refine the program offering based on feedback from various corporate audiences
• Identify potential community partners that may provide benefit to or derive benefit from corporations in IW’s network
Goals: 
• Generate internal and external feedback on program premise from select group of “friends of IW”
• Create short list of 40 companies – 20 engagements for first three months, and 20 engagements for second three months
• Initiate exploratory and pitch meetings with at least 30 companies in six months
• Generate some level of follow-up evaluation and assessment by 20 companies
• Secure five corporate partners by the end of six months, with at least 10 other companies still in the pipeline
• Refine the program offering, value proposition, and support documents that will be used by IW in future engagements

Qualifications and Skills


• C-level experience in Pittsburgh regional corporate community
• Strong Rolodex of contacts in local corporate community, including CTOs, CMOs, CIOs, CEOs, heads of investment, heads of product development, etc.
• Experience launching new programs
• Base-level knowledge of IW and IW programs is a strong plus
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree; Master’s preferred
Relevant Business Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a relevant functional business area
Skill Requirements:
• Must have prior work experience in business or non-profit environment
• Proficient application of business consulting skills, methods and deliverables; this includes the ability to effectively understand and assess the situation, develop recommendations that include developing conceptual/future models, and present those recommendations in a convincing way
• Strong analytical skills –Utilize root-cause and impact analysis, interviews, focus groups, and other data-gathering techniques proficiently
• Demonstrate advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, PPT, and Excel 
• Employ proficient negotiation and influencing skills
• Use strong oral and written communication skills sufficient to independently relate to staff and senior management, including:
o Demonstrate well-developed verbal, written and facilitation skills
o Demonstrate group facilitation skills and the ability to influence without authority
• Must be flexible and quickly adapt to new environments and situations

Length of Assignment:

Period of Engagement: Six months at 20 hours per week, with possibility of extension
