The Role
Innovation Works is seeking a CMMI Implementation Consultant to lead our internal coordination efforts as we pursue a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 appraisal. This role will work closely with IW’s Entrepreneurial Services and Investment teams, and serve as the primary internal liaison to an external third-party CMMI consultant.
The successful candidate will bring experience with CMMI Services V2.0 and demonstrated knowledge of process improvement, internal capability building, and appraisal preparation. They will lead CMMI implementation, including prioritizing improvement areas, documentation, team engagement, process mapping, continuous improvement programs, and training initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate across internal teams to support the implementation of CMMI Services V2.0 process areas
- Serve as the internal point of contact with third-party CMMI consultants
- Lead or support the development of internal processes, documentation, and continuous improvement plans
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops for IW staff to increase CMMI awareness and adoption
- Support the development of a roadmap and timeline for CMMI Maturity Level 3 appraisal readiness
- Provide coaching and change management support to teams adopting new processes
- Ensure alignment between internal goals and external consultant guidance
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a CMMI Associate or Appraisal Team Member (ATM) required
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in process improvement, quality assurance, or operations consulting
- Experience with CMMI Services V2.0 strongly preferred
- Familiarity with nonprofits, economic development organizations, or startup support ecosystems preferred
- Strong facilitation and training skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High personal initiative and collaborative working style
- Ability to work on-site in Pittsburgh, PA, with limited local travel as needed
