Job Summary

Consultant will act as a Program Instructor - Maker Mentor for the Fashion Cohort for the summer 2018 session of Startable Pittsburgh (the “Program”).

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Act as the main point of contact, for the the Fashion Cohort in the Program
  • Have instructional and oversight responsibility for ~12 students
  • Develop program curriculum and instruction in the area of fashion, textile, and wearable design
  • Work with other instructors to educate, oversee and mentor the Fashion Cohort
  • Work one-on-one with students to help them set goals, deliverables and complete their projects

Be present for up to 40 hours per week between 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Mon. - Fri. for the entire Program (June 25 – August 17) and the preceding week (June 18-22), and from time to time for additional planning and strategy sessions held during off-hours

Rate:  $25 per hour

Skills needed:

  • Consultant should have experience instructing design, hand sewing, machine sewing, serger use, pattern making, beginning and advance sewing techniques. Retail, start-up or other business experience a plus.
  • Must possess the necessary certifications to work with children.
